1. There will be a weekly meeting of the older men in the parish for lunch and a chat at the Boundary Stone at 1pm on Wednesdays for about 2 hours. All welcome.

  2. The next meeting of the SVP will be at St Richard’s House after the 10.30am Mass on Thursday 10th March.

  3. In order to assist the SVP in their charity work for those in need in our area, the monthly collection after Mass will resume. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

The St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need.

In our area we:

1.Visit people in their homes, especially where there is loneliness.
2.Carry out shopping for people who are housebound.
3.Take people to doctor's and hospital appointments.
4.Provide financial assistance in the short term, while fostering sound budgeting and debt management in the longer term.
5.Provide a listening ear.
6.Help with the provision of furniture and other household items.

Also, the Group is twinned with SVP Conferences in poorer countries, supporting them with correspondence, prayer and a small financial contribution.

The SVP relies on the financial support of parishioners and each church in the Parish has a monthly collection for this purpose.
We also have a store for second hand furniture and this enables us to help families who are unable to furnish their homes for whatever reason.
